Lt. Nichols (Edit)Lieutenant Gary Nichols

Lieutenant Nichols has worked in law enforcement for almost 13 years. He started with the Kingsland Police Department and has been with us for over 11 years. He's served in every facet with our agency. He started as a patrol officer and became and investigator where he was promoted to Corporal. After several years in investigations, he got the call to return to the street where he served as a patrol supervisor and would later be promoted to Sergeant. After serving as a patrol Sergeant, he was promoted to his current rank and became the Department's Patrol Commander. He also serves on the Special Response Team and is the Assistant Armorer.

Lt. Nichols served honorably in the United States Navy as a submarine Sonar Technician. He served in a number of security related assignments while on active duty before leaving the Navy in 2001.  He also has experience in private security and surveillance. In addition to technical schools completed while in the Navy, Lt. Nichols has an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice.

Originally from Maine, Lt. Nichols married Angela Watson in 2005 and they have two grown children. He is an avid reader and has even penned a couple of unpublished works. He is a firearms enthusiast and enjoys building firearms. He is one of our Department's top shooters.
