Captain Johnny Guy

Captain Guy (Headshot - Bio)Captain Guy began his civil law enforcement career in August of 1991 as a Reserve Police Officer for the St. Marys Police Department until May 1993. Since that time, he served with the Kingsland Police Department, Woodbine Police Department, and Homeland Police Department before returning to our agency in November 2000. In his 21 years since returning, he has served in every aspect of our agency. He was promoted to Master Patrolman in 2002, Sergeant in 2003, and Lieutenant in 2007 when he was appointed as the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Commander. He served in that capacity until 2017 when he was appointed to Command the Administrative Division. He was appointed to Captain in December 2020 and added the responsibility of assistant Chief of Police to his administrative responsibilities.

Captain Guy served honorably in the United States Navy as an Aviation Boatswain Mate (Fuels). He converted to the Master at Arms specialty and served in a number of U. S. Navy Law Enforcement and Physical Security assignments specializing in the K9 field prior to his retirement in 1992.

Originally from Tennessee, Captain Guy married Jacalyn Schmidt in 1995. They have five grown children and nine grandchildren. He is an avid all around racing fan and enjoys camping in his RV.
